Thank you to all who attended our carry-in picnic on June 26!
Wow! Another Crown Alumni Picnic is behind us. That year sure went by fast. It was great seeing all of you again. This year's gathering featured a different mix of alum's from last year with a higher number of Techron guests. This year our long distance award goes to Craig Hunter who came from California. Within the next few weeks we'll be posting the pictures so make sure you check back and take a look.
We will be taking a break now and will not be scheduling another event for at least 2 or 3 years. This web page will continue to stay live and be the center gathering point for alumni information. Also under consideration is moving the date back to mid August. That way we are past the family summer vacation schedules and all the festivals that are so popular in our area. You may recall that last years inaugural event was on this same last Saturday in June date, but this year the Elkhart Jazz Festival moved to our weekend putting us in an event squeeze. But one thing the Jazz Festival didn't have was all that great Crown family carry-in potluck food! Gotta love those deviled eggs and casseroles!
The plant tour was a success with about 20 alum's coming over to take the walk. Most were very interested in seeing the changes that have been made. The floor tour through manufacturing was interesting, but we received most of the "Wow" comments when going through the new cafeteria/terrace area and the exercise/weight room.
A suggestion has been made that we add a memorial page to our web page and start a running list of all the alum's that are no longer with us. If you would like to see that please just drop me an e-mail at the address below with the names of those you would like us to add. We're not looking for personal details, just the names. That should be all that some of us need to reflect on friends gone home.
That's it for now. You can check the guest list for this year's event and see who all attended. Please let us know if a name is missing or misspelled. And don't forget to check back in a few weeks to see the event photos.
And a very special thanks to all who contributed to the donation box. The funds certainly helped defray the costs involved in organizing the event.
