CROWN Alumni Carry-in Picnic 2018
Pictures are up!
Pictures are now live at our Google photos site.
Web site updates to come, but until then please enjoy the photos.
Saturday Aug 18th At the Sailor Center Hall at Hubbard Hill campus.
Hello Everybody! Everything is still on track for our Alumni picnic!
This is a new venue for the group so be aware. Do not drive to Oxbow Park
out of habit. You will be the only one there. The committee is working hard
to make this a fun and memorable event. The hall is enclosed so it will be
a rain or shine gathering. Let's cover some of the details one last time
as this will be the last communication:
- The Sailor Center hall is located back behind the front office
buildings about in the center of the complex.
Just follow the signs. (Map below helps.)
- The hall will be open to the alums from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
(Feel free to stay and help clean up.)
Committee members will be there 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Our friend, Jim Marks, will be giving traffic/parking instructions
as you enter.
Try to arrive between 10:45 and 11:45. PLEASE SIGN IN filling out
all the information on the form with your name and e-mail address so we
can find you next time. We do expect everyone to wear name tags that
we are providing. Fill out your first name in LARGE letters.
The committee purchased 220 special commemorative pens to hand out.
We ask that you take only one. We have two color options: blue, and
bronze. When they are gone they are gone.
Dave Stuber found all sort of goodies when cleaning out all the nooks,
crannies and back rooms at CROWN. Most items will be available at a
"first come, first serve" basis. BUT THERE ARE ALMOST A DOZEN OF ONE ITEM
ONLYS that we will raffle. Be sure and pick up your raffle tickets when
you sign in — place one ticket in the jar of the item you would like and
retain the duplicate. (Yes, you can put one ticket in each jar!)
Clyde Moore will have a few comments and ask for the blessing at
noon. Then comes the food line. We invite you to eat and visit with
friends as long as you want.
Ian Sindell is the event photographer and will be wandering around
getting candid shots. If you want him to take a nice quality photo of
you posing with a friend or even with a group just ask him. At 2 o'clock
Ian will call us together for a group photo. Not sure if he will want
to do it indoors or out but be watching for it and be flexible. If you
want to be in it it's up to you to be available.
Verne Searer will have several video presentations running in
different areas around the dining area. The videos will be on a loop
running during the entire time frame of our carry in. These videos even
include chapel services!
Not that I need to say this, but I will, there is to be no smoking
or alcohol on the Hubbard Hill campus. Anyone using vulgarity will be
asked to leave.
Dan Del Fiorentino, a historian from NAMM, will be directing video
interviews in a separate room. This is to commemorate the contribution
and passage of CROWN - the company and the people. We have scheduled 16
former CROWN employees for him to interview. His wife will be behind the
video camera. If you have the opportunity, do please say "hi" and make
them feel at home. Just do not interrupt the interview taping. NAMM
does this for influential companies that helped the music industry
advance in some way. CROWN is being recognized as being at the forefront.
And, in turn, each of us has contributed through our innovative, state of
the art tape recorders, amplifiers, and microphones. All of your hard
work, smiles and creativity have made this possible.
FOOD — Remember - this is a carry in — so bring a
dessert, salad, veggies and side dishes. Bring crock pots and hot
dishes. Hey, bring several "somethings" to share. Fried chicken,
drinks and tableware will be provided through the generous contribution
of several companies and individuals.
As always, your kids are welcome to come along.
Please keep them out of trouble.
If there are any fried chicken leftovers we will once again be
selling a carry out box worth for $5.
- He will be wearing a safety vest so please don't hit him.
- Parking will be an issue, but follow Jim's directions.
- We are to park on just one side of the street to allow room for
emergency vehicles to get to residents.
- Tell Jim if you need handicap parking or are dropping someone off.
